Plant Description : Plants growing at different localities of India have been found to contain different amount of sennoside B in leaves and pods. The leaves and pods of this plant contain the commercially important laxative sennoside B. The Sennoside level in our Senna leaves always ranges between 2.5% -3.0%.
Manufacturing Process : Senna leaves are tested before and after grinding for Sennosides contents and are extracted with methanol. The methanolic extracts are collected and Calcium sennosides are separated by addition of Calcium Salt solution. The precipitated Calcium sennosides are centrifuged and washed with methanol & dried under vacuum. The dried Calcium sennosides are ground, tested and packed.
